Sorrow Named First Ever WHAC Wrestler of the Week in SHU History

Siena Heights Men's Wrestler, Chris Sorrow, has been named the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of November 21 through November 27.  This is the first time in SHU Men's Wrestling history that a student-athlete has won this award.

Sorrow, a sophomore from Jackson, Michigan, wrestles in the 141 pound weight class.  Sorrow is undefeated in team duals for the 2022-23 season and has an overall record of 3-4.  Two of his four losses have come to top rated opponents in the NAIA and NCAA DIII.

Sorrow defeated the #22 ranked wrestler from Marian University in a 9-4 decision in the opening of the WHAC Conference Regular Season Duals.  With his win, Sorrow will hold a tie-breaker over another nationally ranked wrestler in his weight class due to common-opponent criteria.  Sorrow will likely see recognition in the national ratings in his weight class moving forward.

Coach Derrik Marry had this to say, "Chris has been working extremely hard this season and he's managing his new weight class well. The combination of that hard work and proper management of his diet are two of the main things putting him in a position to maintain his pace late in the match and build victories."
