Women's Cross Country 15th at NAIA Great Lakes Race

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's cross country team placed 15th among 41 squads at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, which took place Saturday. A total of 367 runners competed.

Ashley Russo finished the 5-kilometer course in 19:23.51, taking 30th place in the process. Lucia Alfaro added a 79th-place finish in 20:07.62 and Elaine Johnson was 94th with a 20:15.32.

Also scoring for SHU, Kristin Stobinski placed 107th with a 20:22.99 and Lauren McMahon finished 117th with a 20:28.75.

Lindsay Larsen chipped in with a 123rd-place finish for the Saints, clocking in at 20:32.87.

Shawnee State (Ohio) won the team race with 122 points. Aquinas was second with 131 and Indiana Wesleyan took third with 135. Siena Heights compiled 383 points.

Individual winner Alex Berends, of Taylor (Ind.), clocked in at 17:56.66. 

The Saints will return to competition on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships in Grand Rapids.
