This Week for SHU Women's Basketball

Upcoming for Saints Women's Basketball: The Saints begin conference play this week with a home game against Cornerstone on Wednesday night (Jan. 27) at 5:00 PM before hitting the road on a two-game road trip to face WHAC foes Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday and Indiana Tech on Sunday.
Head Coach: Sue Syljebeck earned her 300th win in November with the 119-86 win over Bethel. The win keeps her firmly at the top for all-time wins for the program's history.
WHAC Home Openers: Siena Heights is 1-2 in league opening games at home the past three seasons. The Saints won last season's WHAC home-opener over #25 Lawrence Tech, 87-76. The year before, SHU fell to UM-Dearborn in 2018-19 (72-65) and Cornerstone the year before (67-58).
Protect This House: Over the past three seasons, Siena Heights has a 40-11(.784) overall record at home and a 24-7 (.774) mark versus conference opponents. Last year, the team fell once at home during league play. That was a 75-70 defeat late in the season to UM-Dearborn in overtime.
Road Warriors: The Saints are 27-14 (.659) overall and 20-9 (.690) in the WHAC on the road the past three seasons.
Last Time Out: The Siena Heights women's basketball team returned to play with a 79-41 win over Rochester in a non-conference road contest on Saturday afternoon. Junior Allye Minor (Bryan, Ohio) led the Saints in scoring with 20 points on the day.
Junior Peyton Banks (Wadsworth, Ohio) made the Saints opening basket that started an 8-1 run in the opening three minutes. Rochester went on a run of its own (5-0) to cut the lead to just two points, 8-6, with just over six minutes remaining in the opening quarter. Junior Kelsey Wyman (Blissfield, Mich.) hit a three to give Siena its first double-digit lead, 19-9. The jumper happened in the middle of an 8-0 run that extended the Saints advantage to 12 points (21-9). The Warriors hit a three to cut the lead to single numbers to end the first quarter with a 23-14 score on the board.
Back-to-back three-point jumpers sparked a 14-0 run by Siena Heights in the second quarter that extended the SHU lead to 40-17 with just 2:34 left before the half. Siena Heights and Rochester traded layups to put things at 42-19 as the teams entered the locker room at halftime.
The Saints scored the first six points of the second half to push their advantage to 29 points. The advantage widened further as the third period moved on. At the buzzer, the Saints had a 61-28 lead as the teams moved into the final quarter of play.
The fourth quarter went similar to the quarter before it, as the lead climbed higher. The largest lead of the game, 38 points, was also the final deficit in the game as a free throw put the score at 79-41.
Series History: Cornerstone: The Saints trail in the series against Cornerstone 25-18, but have won the last five meetings between the two sides. The series is tied at 11 wins each when the Golden Eagles come to Adrian.
Concordia (Mich.): Siena Heights is 7-3 against the Cardinals in the last 10 matchups, including a 4-1 mark in Ann Arbor.
Indiana Tech: SHU holds a 21-12 edge in the overall series against the Warriors. The Saints are 9-8 against Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, however, the Warriors are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings with Siena.
