Two Saints break into rankings, team gets votes for first time in program history

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NAIA released their first Women's Wrestling National Ratings for the 2022-23 season today.  In what was a first for Siena Heights University women's wrestling, the Saints are starting to receive some recogntion.

Two wrestlers are ranked in the Top 25 in their weight class and the Saints received points in the team rankings for the first time in school history.

The Saints are coming off a 4-0 weekend in dual action that saw the Saints knock off NCAA No. 7 Tiffin. Both Valeria Ahumada and Bo Geibe wrestled their way into the rankings.

Ahumada is ranked No. 17 at 109 pounds and is 9-4 on the season, while Geibe is ranked No. 16 at 170 pounds and is 11-3. The Saints received 11 votes in the Top 25 team poll.

"It was hard with the preseason rankings because we are a first-year program with a team full of freshmen and raters didn't see what we do every day – that each person on this team shows up, gives a maximum effort and represents our team and university with a fierce determination to be great," said Head Coach Dominic Adams. "Valeria and Bo wrestling their way into the rankings is the direct result of their hard work. I am excited to watch them both – and others on our team – climb in future rankings."

The Saints compete next at Albion on Sunday, Nov. 20.
