Saints Eye First Competition in Women’s Wrestling Program History

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Twelve Saints will hit the mats for the first time in program history on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point.

This will be the first competition for the women's wrestling program and the Saints will be challenged in the 17-team individual tournament that features 3-time defending NCAA national champion McKendree, preseason NCAA No. 1-ranked North Central, No. 5 Augsburg, and three other teams in the top 20.

"This is a tremendous opportunity and blessing for our team, and I know the student-athletes are excited to compete," said Head Coach Dominic Adams. "This team has been working incredibly hard and got the first glimpse of collegiate wrestling during our Navy and Gold intrasquad scrimmage. This is the next step in their process and we're ready to go."

Transfer Phoenix Waters is the only Saint on the roster with collegiate wrestling experience. She wrestled in four tournaments last year. Eleven other SHU wrestlers will see their first collegiate matches.

Wrestling starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday.  You can follow the tournament on Track Wrestling here
