ADRIAN, Mich. – Mara Eason will be the first assistant coach in the history of the women's wrestling program.
Eason, who graduated in 2020 from Adrian College, started in the role of graduate assistant earlier this month.
"Mara brings a wealth of wrestling experience, but most importantly – she knows what it takes to achieve at a high level in the classroom and on the mat," said Head Coach Dominic Adams. "She was a scholar all-American and leader on campus. Our program and student-athletes will benefit tremendously because Mara Eason is a part of our coaching staff."
Eason earned her Bachelor of Science at AC, where she graduated Cum Laude, was a Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association academic all-American, a McNair Scholar, and was president of the National Biology Honors Program Beta Beta Beta.
She was the first girl to wrestle a complete season and wrestle all four years during high school in LaPorte, Ind.
"I want to be a part of giving back and helping these young women to feel empowered," Eason said. "I've had the experience here from being a McNair Scholar, and I wanted to come back to a community where I knew they cared for their students."
Eason also will pursue a graduate degree in organizational leadership at Siena Heights.
