A native of Lake Orion, Mich., Garavalia is a 2018 graduate of SHU, having earned a Bachelor's degree in History.

Garavalia enjoyed a two-year stint with Oakland Community College, which won back-to-back Michigan Community College Athletic Association championships in her time. During those two years, the Raiders had a record of 63-13.

Garavalia has been her team's leading back-line defender in each of her four years of intercollegiate volleyball. She led OCC in digs with 654 in 2013 and 822 in 2014.

After arriving at SHU, Garavalia had 591 (2016) and 634 (2017), ranking third and second, respectively, on SHU's all-time single-season record list.

In four years of college volleyball, Garavalia totaled 2,701 digs, 233 assists, 121 aces and 32 kills. She appeared in 139 matches.

Garavalia racked up numerous awards. While at OCC, she was named All-MCCAA First Team and All-Region XII First Team. At SHU, she was selected to the All-WHAC Second Team in both 2016 and 2017. Garavalia was also Academic All-WHAC and NAIA Scholar-Athlete in 2017.

Garavalia's brother is also a SHU grad. John Kalugar played for the Saints' men's volleyball team in 2010-11 and 2016-17.
