Saints' Women's Volleyball Survives Early Deficit to Claim WHAC Tourney Win

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The sixth-seed Siena Heights women's volleyball team endured the efforts of a pesky 11th-seed Concordia squad to claim a 3-1 victory in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament action on Wednesday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Julia Haupricht had 16 kills while Halie Baker contributed 15 kills for the Saints (14-13), who dropped the first set, 25-17, before winning the next three, 25-23, 25-19, 25-14.

Carly Tillotson added 32 assists, 13 digs and three aces to the SHU effort. Lauren Baker had 17 assists and Nicole Morgan made 20 digs.

The visiting Cardinals (15-20) scored the match's first point and never trailed during the first set.

In the second set, Siena Heights twice trailed by five points, but eventually found itself in a 22-all tie before scoring 3 of 4 points to even the match.

The Saints then opened the third and fourth sets with runs of 5-1 and 8-1, respectively, to finish the match.

SHU will play its next match in the WHAC Tournament quarterfinals, which will take place Friday at Madonna. The SHU/CU match will tip off at 7 p.m.
