Richards Breaks 37-Year-Old School Record in Women's 400 Hurdles

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Linnearia Richards set a school record while winning the 400-meter hurdles as the Siena Heights women's outdoor track and field team competed at the Hillsdale Last Chance Meet on Wednesday.

Richards hit the line with an auto time of 1:02.23, breaking the previous record set by Martha Hans, who ran 1:02.3 in 1987.

Richards had two other Top 5 finishes at the meet. She was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.32 meters (17 feet, 5 1/2 inches) and fifth in the 100 hurdles in 14.71.

Teammate Faith Jackson was runner-up in the 100 hurdles with an auto time of 14.22.

SHU placed 1-2 in the high jump. Emma Valentine won with a provisional 1.67m (5-5 3/4) and Morgan Lutton placed second with a 1.61m (5-3 1/4).
