ADRIAN, Mich. – Siena Heights freshman Skylar Whitman was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) women's golfer of the week when the league office released the weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Whitman led the way for SHU at the Trine Spring Classic with a third-place showing in the individual standings after her round of 80 strokes. Whitman tied for the best score (E) on par 3 holes. In addition, she tied for the most birdies in the round with two and finished with the fourth-most parts with seven. The Fort Wayne, Indiana native, was just two strokes from the winner. Whitman was also the highest finishing golfer from a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) institution as she finished 10-strokes ahead of the next highest NAIA finisher.
This is the first WHAC weekly award for Whitman's career and the first for the SHU women's golf program in the 2021-22 season.
Whitman will lead the Saints women's golf team in the Lourdes Invitational this Thursday, April 7, at The Legacy G.C. in Ottawa Lake, Michigan.
