MARION, Ind. -- Andrea Richards sits in fifth place while Sydney Gossett is tied for sixth as the Siena Heights women's golf team opened its season during Thursday's first-round action at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational. The Saints sit in second place with a score of 327 at Arbor Trace Golf Club.
Richards carded a 79 on the 5,815-yards, par-73 course. Gossett fired an 80.
Also for SHU, Andrea Rumler is tied for eighth with an 82, Jessa Rappleye is tied for 14th with an 85, and Alyssa Fausneaucht is tied for 16th with an 86. Lauren Cojei has an 87 and is tied for 18th.
In team scoring, the Saints sit behind leading squad Marian (Ind.), which has a 308. SHU is followed by Saint Francis, Ind. (337), host Indiana Wesleyan (338), Taylor, Ind. (352), Mount Vernon Nazarene, Ohio (379), and Spring Arbor (395).
Marian golfers Alexa West and Nina Nicpon are atop the individual leaderboard with 76s.
The tournament will wrap up on Friday.
