KANSAS CITY – Siena Heights senior forward Peyton Banks added a third All-America award to her resume after the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2021-22 All-America Team Friday morning.
Banks recorded 12 double-doubles for the 2021-22 season. The Wadsworth, Ohio native leads the WHAC with 18.3 PPG and 532 total points. She ranks second in free throw percentage with 87.5 and rebounds per game with 9.3. In addition, Banks is 3rd in field goal percentage with 51.0. Banks adds this accomplishment to her list of awards, including WBCA All-America, CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second-Team, co-WHAC Player of the Year—her third consecutive league player of the year award—and first-team All-WHAC for the second-straight season.
"Peyton has been a major contributor to the success of our program since she arrived on campus," said SHU women's basketball coach Sue Syljebeck. "It's great to see Peyton's hard work has earned her an impressive list of accomplishments this season. These awards further prove that she belongs amongst the best players in the country."
All of the selections are made by the All-America Committee and are comprised of first, second, third, and honorable mention teams. There are 12 members on each of the first three All-America teams.
Banks is one of two women's basketball student-athletes from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference on the top-three All-America teams (Emma Tuominen from Indiana Tech was also on the third team).
The Wadsworth, Ohio native adds the three All-America awards this season with the three others to her credit in her career for a total of six. She was first-team NAIA All-America in the 2019-20 season, NAIA honorable mention, and WBCA honorable mention last year.
