ATLANTA – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the class for the 2022 "So You Want To Be A Coach" program. For the second consecutive year, a member of the Siena Heights women's basketball program was selected to participate with this year's selection being senior Alix Carter.
"I am so honored to be selected for the WBCA's 2022 "So You Want To Be A Coach" program," said Carter. "To be able to learn from the best coaches and administrators is such a huge privilege, and I am so grateful for this opportunity. This experience will provide me with great resources and knowledge for my future career, and I am excited to be invited!"
Carter will join over 50 other participants from colleges and universities all over the country and at every level in the "So" program. This selective program assists female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills enhancement, networking, and exposure opportunities.
The program has limited space each year and each participant is selected from those nominated by their head coach. Carter becomes the fifth member of the SHU women's basketball program to be admitted into the program. Past participants from SHU were Jen Hoffman, Jessie Arnold, RaShawn Calvert, and Dakota Spears.
"Alix has been invaluable to our success during her time at Siena Heights," said head coach Sue Syljebeck. "She always understood and saw the game at a different level, and she continues to display an ability to support her teammates while challenging them at the same time. She has coaching in her blood, which has made her a strong leader for us during her career. This achievement is well deserved."
The "So" program will be conducted as part of the WBCA Convention that happens this year in Minneapolis, Minnesota from Thursday, March 31 through April 1, 2022.
