MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Siena Heights pitchers Cassi Kieper and Shyann Truax threw shutouts as the Siena Heights softball team earned 6-0 and 8-0 victories over Trinity Christian and Shawnee State during the SpaceCoast Games on Sunday.
The Saints (2-4) will return to action Tuesday with games against Bethel (Ind.) and New College of Florida.
Siena Heights 6, Trinity Christian 0
Kieper recorded 14 strikeouts and one walk while allowing only four hits. Her 14-strikeout total is the highest output by a Saints' pitcher since Apr. 10, 2008 (Dani Bailey, 18 vs. UM-Dearborn).
Faith Breinager had a double and two RBI while Truax also drove in two runs. Lee Clinton scored twice.
SHU took the lead in the second on a two-run double by Breinager. Truax plated two in the third on a single.
An RBI single by Sydnee Hazlett increased Siena Heights' lead to 5-0 in the fourth.
The Saints scored their final run on a Trinity error in the sixth.
Kieper, who earned her first collegiate win, has the second-most strikeouts in a game by a SHU pitcher, tying Robyn Humes who had 14 against Spring Arbor on Apr. 14, 1993.

Truax worked six innings, allowing three hits, and unlike Kieper earlier, did not record a strikeout.
Breinager batted 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.
Clinton added a 2-for-2 game with a triple, double, stolen base and three runs scored.
Liberti Fair had a double and two RBI.
The Saints jumped in front on a squeeze bunt by Ellie Thelen in the first.
During a 4-run third, Breinager had an RBI double, Emma Fair drove in a run, Emma Marshall drew a bases-loaded walk and Brooklyn Ross had an RBI groundout.
Breinager added an RBI single in the fourth.
During the 2-run sixth, Clinton singled, stole second, advanced to third on an error and then scored on a wild pitch. Liberti Fair grounded out to drive in the final run.
