GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2022 Academic All-America® softball NAIA teams on Tuesday afternoon. Siena Heights senior infielder Sam Hill was listed among the top 23 players in the NAIA as she was selected to the second team.
Hill finished her fourth year as the lead-off hitter for SHU. She led the team with 55 hits while earning a .387 average, two doubles, 23 stolen bases, and the first home runs of her career with three total. Hill is sixth in the WHAC in stolen bases and eighth in hits.
The Willis, Michigan native completed her final season fourth in single-season stolen bases, fourth in career stolen bases, seventh in career runs scored, and eighth in career batting average.
"We are very happy for Sam to receive this award," said SHU softball head coach Laura Klutsarits. "She has worked very hard in the classroom as well as on the field throughout her four years here at Siena Heights, it is great to see her receive this recognition – it is very well deserved."
The 2022 Academic All-America® softball NAIA team consists of 23 softball players from institutions all over the country. Hill is one of two softball student-athletes from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference on the All-America team (Emma Kelley from Indiana Tech was also on the second team).
