The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released the 2020 men's volleyball yearly awards on Tuesday. Senior Emilier De Jesus (Chesterton, Ind.) was chosen first-team All-WHAC while Jakob Pickett (Carmel, Ind.) was a member of the WHAC All-Freshman team. Kevin Gomez (La Estrella, Colombia) was on the Champions of Character squad.
De Jesus added a second WHAC defensive player of the week to his career and was also selected the NAIA men's volleyball defensive player of the week (the second of his career) this season. He finished the 2020 year leading the nation in total digs (290) and digs per game (3.77). The 2019 WHAC Libero of the Year finished his career atop the SHU career records list in digs (932) and digs per set (3.60). He is also third all-time in service aces (102) and fourth in service attempts (1002).
Pickett finished the year with 94 kills (.218 attack percentage), five assists, four service aces, 15 digs, and 80 total blocks (12 BS, 68 BA).
Gomez tallied 213 kills (.212 attack percentage), 21 assists, 22 aces, 137 digs, and 46 total blocks (4 BS, 42 BA).
