ADRIAN, Mich. -- Gilius Blinstrubas smashed 18 kills while Zak Krug and Gabriel Murley made 21 assists each in the Siena Heights men's volleyball team's 3-2 loss to Robert Morris (Ill.) in NAIA Great Lakes Division action on Saturday. The final scores were 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13.
Lance Blough, Brody Davidson and Luke Sagaert added nine kills apiece and Allanderson Meira contributed 15 digs. Blough also had seven total blocks for the Saints (1-4, 0-3).
Robert Morris claimed the first set. SHU last led, 12-9, before a five-point Eagle streak. The visitors led the rest of the set.
In set two, Siena Heights held off a late run by the Eagles; RMU closed its deficit to 24-23 before an Eagle attack error enabled SHU pull the match even at 1-1.
Siena Heights took command en route to winning in the third set with a 7-1 charge before a 10-5 stretch in the fourth helped Robert Morris forge a 2-2 tie.
The Saints got out to a quick start in the fifth and deciding set, going up 4-1, before the Eagles battled back. The set was last tied at 9-all with RMU in the midst of a go-ahead 4-0 run that put the visitors in the lead gfor good.
Andre Shaw finished with 16 kills for Robert Morris (3-5, 2-2) while Stephen Hewitt and Taylor Magorien finished with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Danny Orozco had 30 assists and Jonathan Gomez made 11 digs.
Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a noon Great Lakes match against Saint Xavier (Ill.)
