ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Alan Alston won the pole vault and Kolby Masserant placed first in the javelin as the Siena Heights men's track and field team opened its outdoor season at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.

Alston led a group of four pole vaulters to place in the Top 5 with his winning height of 13 feet, 11 1/4 inches (4.25 meters).

Masserant's distance in the jav was 160-1 (48.79m).
