UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich., GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., and MARION, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team competed at three locations over the weekend, traveling to the Jet's Pizza Invitational (Saginaw Valley), the WHAC/MIAA Challenge (Aquinas) and the Midwest Classic (Indiana Wesleyan).
Jet's Pizza Invitational
The Saints encountered their toughest competition at the Jet's Invite and recorded four Top-5 performances.
Devonta Habern placed third in the high jump with a height of 6 feet, 22 3/4 inches (1.90 meters) while Alan Alston pole vaulted to third place with a 15-2 1/4 (4.63m).
Heptathletes Holden Van Poppel and Kolby Masserant placed third and fifth, respectively, with 4,824 and 4,486 points. Van Poppel was the top heptathlete in the shot put (41-11 1/2, 12.79m), high jump (6-2, 1.88m) and 60 hurdles (8.41 seconds) and second-best in the pole vault (13-9 1/4, 4.20m).
WHAC/MIAA Challenge
SHU had four first-place finishes, placing third among seven teams in team scoring with 92 points.
Winners included: Gabriel Iott, 800 (2:10.80); Nikolas Hammond, long jump (21-2, 6.45m); Calvin Randolph, triple jump (44-11 3/4, 13.71m); and Jordan Harris, shot put (44-8 3/4, 13.63m).
Midwest Classic
The Siena Heights 4x800 relay team ran to fifth place and a time of 8:00.09.
