Siena Heights men's indoor track and field's Matthew Gipple was named the season's first Men's Indoor Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference after his performance at the Tiffin Open.

Gipple took the field honor after winning the long jump at the Tiffin Open with a mark of 7.03.

He has already hit the automatic qualification mark with a season-high leap of 7.14 at a previous meet.  Gipple finished in 3rd place in the 60 meters at Tiffin with a time of 6.89 seconds.  He hit the provisional mark previously earlier this season with a 6.88 mark.

The Saints will return to action after the holiday break at the SVSU Invitational in January.
