ADRIAN, Mich. – Siena Heights freshman Jacob Harberts and junior Zachary Gipple were named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) men's track and field athletes of the week when the league released the weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Harberts won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.98. He also finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.59.
Gipple was the only SHU men's track and field athlete to hit an NAIA standard with his throw in the shot put of 15.79m to win the event. The Coldwater, Michigan native also won the discus with a heave of 42.87m.
This is the second WHAC track athlete of the week award for Harberts and Gipple. It's the first weekly league award for the SHU men's outdoor track and field season.
The Saints are scheduled to compete in The Monday Meet at Indiana Tech a week from today (April 11) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
