The Siena Heights men's soccer team was ranked seventh on the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll as announced by the league on Thursday.
Last year's WHAC regular-season champ, Aquinas, tops the poll while the WHAC Tournament champs, Indiana Tech, is No. 2.
The Saints placed eighth in the conference last year with a 7-9-3 overall record and 3-5-3 mark in the WHAC. They fell in the WHAC quarterfinals to Aquinas, 4-1.
Gustavo Lira and Lewis Crombie, SHU's leading goal-scorers in 2023, return this season. Both had three goals last year. Lorenzo Lim, a member of the WHAC All-Newcomer Team, is also back for the Saints.
The Saints will open their season with four straight non-conference home games, beginning with a visit from Huntington on Aug. 24 for a 7 pm. start. After that, SHU will visit Adrian for a 7 p.m. game on Sept. 11. Its first WHAC contest will occur Sept. 18 with a 7 p.m. match versus Lawrence Tech.
