ADRIAN, Mich. – Siena Heights University announced that Andrew "Drew" Crawford has been hired as its new men's soccer head coach. He will begin his new position Feb. 1.

"We are excited to bring Drew back to Siena Heights in this capacity," said Smith of Crawford, who served as an assistant on the SHU women's soccer team for the past six years. "He was a Hall of Fame player for us, and his vast and diverse experience as a coach really impressed the search committee."
"I'm extremely excited to take over a program that is close to my heart," Crawford said. "I look forward to being a permanent member of the Siena Heights family.
A 1989 Siena Heights graduate, Crawford ranks second on the Saints' all-time scoring list with 169 points, including second in career goals with 70. A two-time NAIA All-American and four-time All-District performer, he was named MVP of the 1989 NAIA Senior Bowl.
After his collegiate career, Crawford had a 10-year professional career, including two seasons as a National Premier Soccer League All-Star. He played for several teams, including the Detroit Thunder, Arizona Sandsharks, Detroit Rockers, Buffalo Blizzard and Detroit Ignition.
His coaching career also includes a stint as the head coach for Hilbert (N.Y.) College from 1996-2001, and coaching various high school and club teams around the country. He also coached the Buffalo Premier Soccer Club, and is currently the head coach for the Canton (Mich.) Soccer Club.
"My goal is to provide an atmosphere of learning, fun and accomplishment while giving the team the same great experience I had as a student-athlete as a Saint," Crawford said.
Crawford, and his wife, Trish, have three children, Ian, Morgan and Caleb.
"Drew is familiar with the Siena Heights community, and we are excited about the future of the men's soccer program," Smith said.
