Men's Soccer Unable to Hold Off Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After taking a first-half lead, the Siena Heights men's soccer struggled through the second half en route to a 4-2 loss to Concordia in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday.

Alexandre Santos had a goal and an assist while Jakub Havlak contributed two assists for the Saints (1-8, 0-1).

Santos put SHU ahead in the sixth minute, getting an assist from Havlak. Luis Miguel Anaya then put the Saints up, 2-0, with assists from Havlak and Santos, before CUAA rang off four unanswered goals in the second half.

Cory Briggs and Victor Ammons had two goals each for the Cardinals (2-5, 1-0).

Briggs scored in the 61st minute with an assist from Kenny Vasquez and then Ammons tied the game at 2-all with an unassisted goal in the 66th.

Briggs' second score game in the 80th before Ammons provided an insurance goal in the 86th with assistance from Briggs.

Siena Heights goalkeeper Brandon Gonzalez had 10 saves while CUAA goalie Michael Erickson stopped five shots. Concordia held a 32-12 shot advantage.

The Saints will be in action next on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. WHAC contest at Cornerstone.
