Tomczyk Lone Scorer in Men's Soccer Loss to Bethel

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Clayton Tomczyk scored the lone Siena Heights goal during the Saints' men's soccer team's 4-1 loss to Bethel (Ind.) in Wednesday's non-conference play at O'Laughlin Stadium.

Tomczyk's goal was assisted by a through ball from Ricardo Bubols Pinheiro in the eighth minute, giving SHU a 1-0 lead before the visiting Pilots (2-0-1) ran off four consecutive goals.

Pedro Amaral equalized for Bethel in the 21st minute, getting an assist from Caleb Morris. Then, Ricardo Carvalho put in the next two Pilot goals -- one in the 27th on an assist from Lukas Muszong and then again in the 46th on an assist from Ricardo Zambonino.

Muszong finished out the scoring for Bethel with a goal in the 90th minute.

Siena Heights goalkeeping duties were split between Brandon Gonzalez. Gonzalez played into the 65th minute and made eight saves before he was replaced by Júlio Wehba Bruna, who stopped two shots.

Blake Kozlowski made five saves for the Bethel, which had a 25-8 shot advantage and 14-5 corner-kick advantage.

The Saints (0-4) will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 10, with a 7 p.m. non-conference home match against Saint Francis (Ind.).
