ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Goshen (Ind.) in its non-conference season opener on Wednesday at O'Laughlin Stadium.
David Felipe Parra Ruiz tallied the lone SHU goal, scoring in the 90th minute with nine seconds left in the contest. He was assisted by Clayton Tomczyk.
Visiting Goshen (1-0) opened the scoring with a 55th-minute goal by Brodie Nafziger. The Maple Leafs pushed their advantage to 2-0 on a score by Philip Longenecker in the 80th minute. Andrew Snyder assisted both Goshen goals.
Leaf goalie Dean Nafziger made six saves in net to earn the win. SHU's Brandon Gonzalez had three stops at the opposite end.
Siena Heights held an 18-8 shot advantage and 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Saints (0-1) will return to action on Saturday and Sunday when they participate in the Crimson Wave Invitational at Calumet Saint Joseph (Ind.). SHU will meet Campbellsville (Ky.) in a first-round game.
