#12 Men's Lax Rallies Past Lourdes, Advances to CCLA Semifinals

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Spencer Macek scored five goals and Shane Lewandowski totaled four goals and five assists as the 12th-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team overcame a five-goal deficit to defeat Lourdes (Ohio), 12-10, in a Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Tournament quarterfinal on Saturday at O'Laughlin Stadium.

John Holowaty, Tom Kreitzer and Nate Woods added single goals while Danny Orr contributed an assist for the two-seed Saints (12-1), who fell behind 5-0 in the first quarter.

Travis Byrd was 9 of 11 in the faceoff circle. Stephen Bloxam and Spencer Macek picked up five and four groundballs, respectively.

Macek scored four of his goals in the first half, helping the Saints close their gap to 6-5 before halftime.

Holowaty's tally was a man-up goal as SHU took an 8-7 lead. The Saints led the rest of the way after that.

Ryan Mailloux was the winning goalie for Siena Heights, finishing with 12 saves.

Casey Hilfinger and Dalton Vowles had three goals and one assist each for the seventh-seeded Gray Wolves (4-7). Goalie Joe Hollinger made 18 stops.

With the win, SHU advanced to the CCLA Tournament semifinals and will meet three-seed Dayton on Friday at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa.
