GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Shane Lewandowski scored five goals and Tom Kreitzer put in four goals as the 17th-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team defeated Lourdes (Ohio), 16-9, on Saturday at Davenport. The contest served as both a Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association Central Division contest and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament third-place game.
Nick Lyons and Danny Orr added two goals apiece for the Saints (8-0, 3-0). Orr also had an assist.
Chris Acton, Spencer Macek and Nate Woods also had goals for SHU. John Holowaty made three assists while Woods and Dan Diffenderfer dished one helper each.
Mark Ward went 12-8 in the faceoff circle and finished with six groundballs while winning goaltender Ryan Mailloux stopped 11 shots.
The Saints fell behind early, 3-0, before answering with four consecutive goals -- the beginning of a 7-1 SHU stretch in which the Saints took a 7-5 advantage. Siena Heights led the rest of the way.
Danny Bichsel led Lourdes (3-4, 2-1) with four goals while Casey Hilfinger and Jared Yoshino picked up six groundballs each. Joe Hollinger made 15 saves in net.
The Saints will return to action on Friday, Apr. 10, with a 7 p.m. non-conference home game against defending MCLA national champ Grand Valley State.
