ADRIAN, Mich. -- Tom Kreitzer scored six goals and Benjamin Lama made five assists as the Siena Heights men's lacrosse team came back from a six-goal deficit to defeat Michigan Dearborn, 12-8, in Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association North Division action at O'Laughlin Stadium on Sunday.
John Holowaty and Nate Woods added two goals and one assist each. Nick Lyons had a goal and an assist while James Thomas Laura tallied a single goal for the Saints, who once trailed 7-1.
Down by six, SHU (4-5, 3-1) pushed in two goals to close its halftime deficit to 7-3.
The Saints eventually trailed 8-4 in the third quarter when Lauria drew a UMD penalty. Lauria then scored six seconds into the penalty; that tally was the first of eight unanswered Siena Heights goals.
Kreitzer scored the next four SHU goals, getting assists from Lama on each of them. The fourth goal of that sequence put the Saints ahead, 9-8, with 12:19 left in the contest.
Mark Ward went 13 of 17 in the face-off circle for SHU, finishing with five groundballs. Woods also had five groundballs while winning goalkeeper Ryan Mailloux stopped six shots.
Ruben Cabello, Dylan Hatcher, Eric Rosteck and Kevin LaHaie scored two goals apiece for Dearborn (5-4, 1-1). Alex Miller picked up five groundballs and goalie Sean Walsh had eight stops.
The Saints will play again on Thursday when Ferris State visits O'Laughlin for a 7 p.m. start. Ferris is coached by Siena Heights graduate Ryan Gumbleton.
