Adrian, Mich.- The Siena Heights men's lacrosse team suffered a late, 10-9, come from behind loss against Lawrence Tech Friday night.
After jumping out to a quick two goal lead, the Saints controlled the game and the score for over three periods of play. Lawrence Tech did tie the game early with their second of two unanswered goals with 13:38 left in the second quarter.
Goals from Nate Woods and John Holowaty, just 54 seconds apart, gave the Saints their two goal lead back. The Saints went into halftime leading 5-3, and were leading 7-4 with 10:43 left in the third quarter. Then six unanswered goals, two of which were with the extra man, by the Blue Devils put the Saints down 7-10 with 14:19 left in the game.
Siena Heights tried to rally with goals from Ben Lama and Tom Krietzer, but they were unable to get the equalizer and fell 10-9.
Overall, the Saints outshot the Blue Devils 36-28. Holowaty and Woods led the Saints in scoring as they both had two goals and an assist. Ryan Mailloux made seven in the cage for the Saints.
Bryan Burnham and Tim Popp led Lawrence Tech with three goals each. Popp picked up two assists, while Burnham only had one. Blue Devils goalie, Adam Gohl made ten saves in the cage.
Siena Heights (3-5, 2-1 CCLA North) will return to action on Sunday when they host UM-Dearborn at 2pm. Lawrence Tech improves their record to 5-1, 1-1 CCLA North.
