#23 Men's Lacrosse Tripped Up by Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The 23rd-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team surrendered four man-up goals in a 7-5 loss to Capital (Ohio) in non-conference play on Sunday.

Nate Woods finished with two goals and one assist while John Holowaty contributed a goal and an assist for the Saints (1-1).

Adam Keay and Tom Kreitzer also scored goals. Mark Ward had an assist.

Defensively, Josh Abruzzo picked up five groundballs while Jordan Martin caused four turnovers.

After a scoreless first quarter, SHU fell behind 4-1 and found itself playing catchup the rest of the day.

Twice, the Saints closed their deficit to one goal -- on fourth-quarter goals by Woods and Holowaty -- but each time, the host Crusaders (2-1) had an answer.

Siena Heights goalkeeper Ryan Mailloux made 17 saves in the loss.

Capital was led by Brent Walton, who had three goals and three assists, and Nick Hess, who finished with two goals and one assist.

Cap goalie Jordan Adkins had eight stops.

The Saints will be in action again on Friday and Saturday with games at Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) and Missouri Baptist.
