The Siena Heights men's golf team was chosen to finish seventh in the 2019 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preseason Coaches Poll that was released by the league office on Tuesday. The Saints finished eighth at the WHAC Championships in the spring with a team score of 945 (312+323+310).
The preseason poll is voted on by the coaches in the league who rank the teams in the league from 1-12. 12 points are given to the team at the top of the list, 11 points to the second-ranked team, and so on to determine the order of the poll.
UNOH led the poll with 143 points after receiving 11 of the 12 first-place votes. Indiana Tech was second with 127 points and the final first-place vote. Lawrence Tech tallied 120 points for third place while Aquinas (95), and Lourdes (89) fell at fourth and fifth respectively. Cleary (86) edged SHU (82) by four points for sixth place. Madonna fell eighth with 66 points and Cornerstone was ninth with 47. Rochester (33), Concordia (Mich.) (30), and UM-Dearborn (18) rounded out the poll.
The Saints open the season on Friday, August 30 at the two-day Olivet Invitational at the Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Michigan. Day one of the tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
