ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team begins the 2020-21 regular season with a home game against Grace on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., EST. The Saints finished 13-18 overall and 9-11 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) in 2019-20. SHU completed the year seventh in the league standings a season ago. Siena Heights was picked to finish ninth in the conference standings when the 2020-21 WHAC Preseason poll was released in mid-October.
The Saints return Kevin Rice (Sr. | Detroit, Mich.) the lone varsity started last season. Rice appeared in 29 of the 31 games and started 20 and was the team leader in blocks per game (1.2). He was also third on the team in points per game (9.0), field-goal percentage (51.4), and rebounds per game (5.8). In total, the Saints return six players who were in the program last year to the varsity roster. Those student-athletes are joined by 11 newcomers who round out the 17-member varsity roster.
Siena Heights will play three games in the month of November, starting with the game on the 10th versus Grace. The Saints will have their WHAC home-opening contest against Lourdes on Nov. 18. The final game of the month will be a road contest against Adrian College on the 24th. Four of the six games in December are on the road. The month begins with a home game versus Concordia (Mich.) on the 2nd followed by Rochester (Dec. 5), Indiana South Bed (Dec. 12), Goshen (Dec. 18), and Spring Arbor (Dec. 19) all on the road. The games against Goshen and Spring Arbor will be part of the Spring Arbor University Classic. The final game of the month is at home versus Huntington on the 30th.
The New Year starts with a month loaded with conference matchups as SHU faces UNOH (Jan. 2), Aquinas (Jan. 9), Madonna (Jan. 16), and Rochester (Jan. 30) at home. The road games for the month are Cornerstone (Jan. 6), Indiana Tech (Jan. 13), Lawrence Tech (Jan. 20), UNOH (Jan. 23), and Lourdes (Jan. 27). The regular season wraps up with three road games and three home games. Starting with a trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan to face Concordia (Mich.) on February 3 then at Aquinas (Feb. 6). Cornerstone (Feb. 10), Lawrence Tech (Feb. 13), Indiana Tech (Feb. 17) at home. Then rounding things out at Madonna (Feb. 20).
