ADRIAN, Mich. -- Eric Cogan scored 25 points while Christian Covile had a double-double worth 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Siena Heights men's basketball team earned a 101-89 "Senior Night" victory over Marygrove in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday at the SHU Fieldhouse.
Malachi Satterlee added 14 points, Stone Beckwith put in 11 and Latwan Wesley had 10 for the Saints (11-16, 7-12), who shot 37 of 58 from the field (63.8 percent).
Cogan finished 9 of 10 from the field, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range, and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. Covile went 8 of 14 from the field and 5 of 6 from the stripe.
SHU withstood the efforts of Darryll Dixon, who scored 40 points for the Mustangs (3-24, 2-17). JuJuan Armstrong had a double-double, finishing with 19 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Diante Taylor chipped in with 10 points for the visitors.
SHU took the lead for good on a dunk by Covile with 4:54 left in the first half. The field goal put the Saints ahead, 30-28, and a steady diet of offense was needed the rest of the way to hold off the Dixon-led effort.
Siena Heights led at halftime, 43-37. After that, the Mustangs pulled within three points on seven different occasions before Beckwith gave the Saints their first double-digit lead of the second half with a 3-ball that put the hosts ahead, 80-69, with 6:25 to go.
A layup by Armstrong helped Marygrove close its deficit to 94-88 with 1:03 left. The Saints then closed the game with a 7-1 run.
Siena Heights will be in action again on Saturday with a 7 p.m. WHAC contest at Michigan-Dearborn.
