Strong Second Half Helps SHU Men Escape Marygrove

DETROIT, Mich. -- Christian Covile was one of two Siena Heights players to have a double-double, finishing with 27 points and 10 rebounds, as the Saints' men's basketball team used a dominant second half to defeat Marygrove, 92-70, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.

Jerrell Martin also doubled for SHU as he compiled 11 points and 10 rebounds. Malachi Satterlee added 17 points and seven rebounds, Stone Beckwith scored 14 points, and Jamison Webster had 13 points and five rebounds.

The first half featured 16 lead changes before the hosts took a 41-39 tilt into intermission. Siena Heights (7-11, 3-7) was behind 47-45 with 16:44 left in the contest. The Saints then went on a 25-8 run, taking a 70-55 lead, and held their advantage in double-digits the rest of the way.

Diante Taylor was Marygrove's leading scorer, finishing with 28 points and nine rebounds. Darryll Dixon added 19 points and Kenny Enoex grabbed nine rebounds for the Mustangs (1-16, 0-9).

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. WHAC matchup against Michigan-Dearborn. The contest will also serve as SHU's annual "Pink Game."
