FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Stone Beckwith scored 24 points and Jerrel Martin put in 17 as the Siena Heights men's basketball team suffered an 88-77 loss to Saint Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday.
Christian Covile added eight assists for the Saints (2-3), who outnumbered USF in assists, 18-3. However, SHU was outrebounded, 39-18.
Siena Heights trailed at halftime, 46-33, and once faced a 15-point deficit before charging back on an 11-2 run to trim its gap to 54-48. Beckwith had five points and Malachi Satterlee contributed four during the surge.
The Saints eventually closed to 62-57 before the host Cougars answered with a 14-3 stretch to increase their advantage to 76-60.
Kegan Comer had 29 points off the bench to lead USF while Austin Fox put in 20, Josh Hogan scored 17, and Scott Kohn contributed 16. Fox and Kohne finished with nine and eight rebounds, respectively.
Siena Heights will play its next contest on Thursday when WHAC opponent Cornerstone visits for an 8 p.m. conference opener for both teams.
