Bill Kohn has returned for his fifth season on the Siena Heights coaching staff. He will coach defensive tackles. He was a defensive line coach in 2013 and 2012. In 2011, he was an offensive line coach.
Originally from Tinley Park, Ill., Kohn was an academic scholar as well as an all-conference and Lutheran All-American at Valparaiso (Ind.).
In over 40 years of coaching, Kohn has been a high school assistant coach, high school head coach and college assistant coach. Kohn served as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Adrian from 1978 through 1982.
From 1988 through 1992, he was the head coach at Ypsilanti High School where he compiled a 37-12 record and won two regional championships. His team also set the school record for wins and took one trip to the state semifinals.
In 1994, he began coaching at Morenci High School for three seasons where he went 30-5, including losses in the state finals. He was honored as the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) Regional Coach of the Year twice and was the MHSFCA State Coach of the Year once.
From 1997 through 2003, Kohn was the head coach at Adrian High School. During his time with the Maples, he earned three MHSFCA Regional Coach of the Year awards along with an AP State Coach of the Year Award.
In over 100 years of Adrian High School Football, the Maples have only two undefeated seasons – both under Kohn’s watch.
In 2005, Coach Kohn was elected into the MHSFCA Hall of Fame.
