Saints Football Has 22 Players Named to the 2021 MSFA All-Academic Team

On Tuesday afternoon, the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) announced the 2021 All-Academic team. A record number of 344 student-athletes were named to the all-academic squad. The Siena Heights football team was well represented as 22 members of SHU were named to the list.

Andrew Loria (Sterling Heights, Mich.) was the lone Saints member who made the list for the fourth time in his career.

Andrew Lyons (Linden, Mich.), Cole LaFave (Rochester, Mich.), Jacob Lederman (Goodrich, Mich.), and Kole Murlin (Celina, Ohio) all made the list for the third time.

David Robinson (Rochester, Mich.), Justin McCown (Sterling Heights, Mich.), Kabe Sykora (Marshall, Mich.), Logan Schmidt (Cincinnati, Ohio), Nick Turchiano (Cincinnati, Ohio), Ty Smith (Fort Wayne, Ind.), and Walter Turner (Gibraltar, Mich.) were all two-time all-academic players.

Andrew Bookman (Pickerington, Ohio), Cocy Goff (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), Jack Fitzgerald (Bellevue, Mich.), John Applebee (Conneaut, Ohio), Nico Fernandez (Wyandotte, Mich.), Robert Opalewski (Lapeer, Mich.), T.J. Verner (Clawson, Mich.), Walter Baughman (Beverly Hills, Mich.), and Zachary Keyser (Spring Lake, Mich.) all made the list for the first time in their careers.

To make the MSFA All-Academic team, student-athletes must have maintained a 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore or higher.
