A total of ten Siena Heights football players was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, which is chosen by CoSIDA (Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America).
Honorees include seniors Trent Bragg, Michael Butler, Jake Helsel, Paul Jacobs, C.J. Marious and Lyle Van Fleteren; junior Nic Acton; and sophomores Ja'Tice K. Shaw II, Asa Smith and Nate Yeloushan.
The ten players were honored in the District 1 College Division category, which encompasses Canadian schools and NAIA and two-year schools in Alabama, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia.
Butler, Marious and Shaw are accounting majors while Bragg and Smith are criminal justice majors.
Acton studies business administration, Helsel is a biology major, Jacobs is a history/education major and Yeloushan is in SHU's nursing program.
Van Fleteren is a triple-major in biology, chemistry and mathematics.
Nominees for the CoSIDA award must have a GPA of 3.30 or higher and be of sophomore, junior or senior academic standing at their respective institution.
