Bragg, Dunson Earn MSFA Weekly Honors

Siena Heights linebacker Trent Bragg and wide receiver Raphael Dunson received weekly MSFA honors, as announced by the conference on Monday. Bragg was named Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week while Dunson was recognized as the MSFA Mideast Special Teams Player of the Week.

Dunson had 175 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns while Bragg recorded nine total tackles, including three for-loss, as the Saints finished out their conference schedule on Saturday with a 31-14 win over 17th-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.).

Bragg also had 1 1/2 sacks for a SHU defense, which finished with 11 TFLs, including six sacks. Earlier this season, he was previously named MSFA Mideast Defender of the Week for his performance in a 33-3 win over Concordia.

Dunson's special teams honor is the result of his game-changing 90-yard kickoff-return touchdown, which was SHU's immediate answer for an RMU game-tying touchdown. The dash highlighted 27 seconds of game-time in which the Saints and Eagles combined for 21 points.

On offense, Dunson finished with four receptions for 66 yards and five carries for 19 yards. He scored the game's first touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Bragg is the one of two SHU football players to earn the weekly defensive honor in 2014 while Dunson is the first honoree on special teams.

A total of four players have combined for five weekly honors. Wide receiver Reggie Blackmon was named MSFA Mideast Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6, Bragg was Mideast Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20, and linebacker Tyler Karcher was Mideast Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 3.
