Saints' Football Knocks Off Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Six different Saints scored touchdowns while tight end Donovan Campbell eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for receiving yards as the Siena Heights football team defeated Concordia, 44-3, to claim its first Mid-States Football Association Mideast League win of the season on Saturday at Riverbank Stadium.

Quarterback Travis Zajkowski completed 12 of 21 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Campbell finished with eight receptions -- a SHU single-game record that he's reached five times -- and 124 yards, putting the junior from South Bend, Ind., at 1,015 career receiving yards.

Running back Dwane Aaron II added nine carries for 78 yards and a score while fellow running backs Burke Hart, Amari Kelley and Julius Taylor Jr. contributed rushing touchdowns.

Tight end Lyle Van Fleteren contributed three receptions for 51 yards and one TD; wide receiver Raphael Dunson had two catches for 59 yards and a score.

The Saints (4-3, 1-2) fell behind early on a 21-yard field goal by Concordia's Brayden Bennett, but then responded with 44 unanswered points.

Hart scored on a two-yard run and Kelley forced himself into the end zone from one yard out, helping the Saints to a 13-3 advantage.

In the second quarter, Dunson had a 57-yard touchdown reception from Zajkowski as SHU finisehd out a six-play, 92-yard drive.

During the third, Taylor scored on a 25-yard run, kicker Victor Bodrie made a school-record 41-yard field goal, and tight end Lyle Van Fleteren had a 33-yard touchdown grab from Zajkowski.

Aaron had SHU's final touchdown in the fourth -- a 20-yard scamper.

For the Siena Heights defense, linebacker Tyler Karcher had 7 1/2 tackles, including a sack. Defensive lineman Kyle Connors also had a sack while linebacker Sadre' Howard had a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Defensive back Sean Smith added a fumble recovery and interception, defensive lineman Tanner Brewer forced a fumble, and defensive back Fred Butler made an interception.

The Saints will return to play next Saturday with a 1 p.m. MSFA Mideast game at Taylor (Ind.).
