SHU to Host Cheer and Dance Regional for Second Straight Year

For the second consecutive year, the Siena Heights competitive cheer and dance teams will host the NAIA East Regional at the SHU Fieldhouse. The 2015 East Regional will take place on Saturday, Feb. 21, with opening ceremonies taking place at 11 a.m.

In 2014, the Saints' dance team won the East Regional championship while the SHU cheer team placed runner-up. The squads followed that up with a trip to the NAIA Invitational in Oklahoma City, Okla, as the dance team took fifth and the cheer team finished 11th.

"We are so excited to be hosting the East Regional qualifying competition for the second year in a row," SHU cheer and dance coach Angie Heath said. "We are even more excited to see competitive cheer and dance moving closer to becoming a championship sport in the NAIA.

"We expect a lot more teams to participate in the East Regional this year and bring a higher skill level. It is so great to see cheer and dance receive the support and recognition it deserves while being part of that excitement."
