Baseball Drops Four at Cumberland (Tenn.)

LEBANON, Tenn. -- The Siena Heights baseball team played a non-conference series at Cumberland (Tenn.), dropping four contests on Friday and Saturday. Individual recaps are below.

Game 1: Cumberland 25, Siena Heights 0
Cumberland scored nine runs in the first inning and added on the rest of the way.

Max Bledsoe batted 2-for-2 for SHU.

Game 2: Cumberland 15, Siena Heights 2
The Saints trailed by 15 before a two-run homer by Zander Zeiter in the seventh inning.

Ethan Verhelst had a double while relief pitcher Kaleb Woods tossed 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball with two strikeouts.

Game 3: Cumberland 18, Siena Heights 7
The Saints trailed 14-0 before the bats got going as Jaozef Del Rosario led the way with a 3-for-4 game, including a double.

Jack Semler doubled twice, going 2-for-4. Braxton Mustiful drove in two runs.

SHU got on the board in the fourth on RBI groundouts by Mason Baer and Mac Melvin.

Del Rosario hit an RBI single in the fifth, trimming the deficit to 14-3.

After the hosts pushed the margin to 18-3, SHU answered with a pair of two-run innings.

Mustiful and Joseph Smith had RBI singles in the sixth. Semler crunched an RBI double in the seventh and Mustiful followed with an RBI groundout.

Game 4: Cumberland 5, Siena Heights 3 (6 innings)
Rainy conditions ended any hopes of a SHU comeback; the game ended one inning early.

Baer, Mustiful, Semler and Mason Mitchell had doubles for the Saints.

Siena Heights scored all of its runs in the third, pulling into a 3-3 tie. Baer hit an RBI double, Melvin hit an RBI single and Semler tied the game with an RBI double.

Cumberland went ahead with a run in its half of the third and tacked on an insurance run in the fourth.
