LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair of WHAC contests to Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday. UNOH won the first game 11-6, followed by a 19-5 victory in game two.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, April 17, at Madonna at 1 & 4 p.m. EDT.
Game One: Northwestern Ohio 11, Siena Heights 6
Caden Gomes went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
Benjamin Weadock started on the hill, working 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits off five runs while forcing two strikeouts.
After trailing 1-0 after the second, Gomes tied the game at one with an RBI single in the third.
SHU surged in the fourth, scoring five runs to take a 6-2 lead. Gino Hutchinson and Jimmy Haranczak recorded RBI singles to give SHU its first lead. Caden Gomes walked with the bases loaded to tally an RBI, and Jack Semler ended the inning with a two-RBI single.
UNOH then exploded to score nine straight runs to win the contest, plating one run in the fourth, two in the fifth, and seven in the sixth.
Game Two: Northwestern Ohio 19, Siena Heights 5
Landon DeVaney led SHU offensively, going 2-for-3 at bat.
Christian Smolen led the SHU pitching staff with three strikeouts.
All five of SHU's runs came in the second inning, starting with Brock Olmstead's RBI by walking with the bases loaded, a two-RBI single from Caden Gomes, and RBI singles from Devin Eads and Jack Semler.
