Upcoming for Saints Baseball: The Saints open the 2021 season with a pair of non-conference doubleheaders at the University of Rio Grande on Friday and Sunday. Both doubleheaders are set to start at 12:00 PM.

Head Coach: John Kolasinski enters his 18th season as the head coach for the Saints and his 35th season as a collegiate head coach. Currently, Kolasinski has accumulated a career record of 536-766-1 in over 30 years of coaching. The skipper won his 500th career game on March 6th, 2019 when the Saints beat Bethel 22-9. Kolasinski currently stands as the coach with the second-most wins in Siena Heights baseball history. His best season was his 33-25 record in 2012 -- a 25-win improvement over the previous season.

Season Openers: The Saints are 5-4 in the last nine seasons in season openers.  Their most recent season opener win was in the 2019 season as they won 4-3 against Campbellsville (Ky.)

Cut Short: Siena's 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Saints played 19 games in a span of 11 days. They finished with a 3-16 record prior to the rest of their season being canceled. Their three wins were against Warner (Fla. (2-0), UM-Dearborn (10-4), and Saint Francis (Ind.) (3-0). Two of those wins were during the team's spring training trip in Florida. The team did not play a single conference game prior to the shutdown.

Scouting Rio Grande:  The Red Storm has a leg-up on their competition as they have played 14 games this season with a 4-10 record. Hosting the Saints this weekend will be their first home games of the season. Their four wins were against Bryan College, Thomas Moore College (two games), and Linsday Wilson College. Trey Carter has the highest batting average on the team of 0.455 on ten hits and an on-base percentage of 0.519. He also has the highest fielding percentage compared to changes/putouts with 0.969 and 56 putouts on 65 chances. Zach Kendall has the lowest ERA on the team of 2.55 on four games with a record of 2-1. He has pitched 24.2 innings. 

Top Returners: Freshman infielder, Cameron Hammer had the highest batting average on the team (.291), on-base percentage (.371), runs (11), and second-highest hits on the team (16) during last season. Sophomore pitcher, Parker Swartz, had an ERA of 5.91 during last season on 21.1 innings pitched and a record of 0-2. Sophomore catcher, Cody Henderson had a fielding percentage of .977 on 37 putouts off of 43 total chances. 

Season Breakdown: The Saints play four games in the month of February on two double-headers this weekend against Rio Grande.  Siena Heights will then play 22 games on 10 double-headers in the month of March including 12 WHAC games. In the month of April, they play 20 games on 10 double-headers including 14 WHAC games. The final double-header is a WHAC game in the first week of May.
