Baseball Places Eight on Scholar-Athlete List: Tied for Second-Most in NAIA

A total of eight Siena Heights baseball players were recognized as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the NAIA recently. As a team, the Saints tied for the second-most honorees in the NAIA.

The SHU group included seniors Lucas Bartz and Drew Milligan and juniors Zack Dunlop, Austin Hauck, Thomas McCarter, Ryne Sanders, Tayler Thelen and Joe Williams.

Bartz, Milligan, Hauck and Sanders are (or were) accounting majors. Dunlop studies mathematics and education, McCarter majors in psychology, Thelen focuses in business administration and Williams is a social studies major.

Siena Heights tied with Cumberland (Tenn.) with eight honorees. The American Institute of Business (Iowa) had the most in the NAIA with 13.

In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. A total of 354 men were recognized.
