GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests to Davenport -- 3-2 and 8-0 -- on Saturday. The first game lasted 11 innings.
SHU pitcher Brent Vaccaro went the distance in the opener, registering 10 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed three runs on 11 hits while recording one strikeout and three walks.
Dan Muller batted 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI for the Saints' offense. Eric Henderson also had an RBI.
Siena Heights (14-21, 4-12) had trailed 2-0 before platings its first run in the fifth on an RBI single by Henderson.
Mullen delivered a game-tying RBI single in the seventh.
Davenport won the contest on an RBI double by Cam Cooper in the 11th.
For the Panthers, Derek Dennis went 3-for-5 while Eric Cummings and Zac Wilson had 2-for-5 games. Ryan Manning doubled.
Jordan Anderson started on the hill for DU, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits while finishing with four strikeouts and three walks. Ryan Butzer tossed five innings of one-hit shutout ball to earn the win. He recorded five strikeouts and one walk.
During game two, the SHU offense managed only one hit -- a single by Mike Lollo.
Wilson went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI for DU. Eric Grochowalski doubled twice.
Also for DU (33-14, 20-5), Corey Murphy pitched the distance, striking out six and walking one in seven innings of work.
Travis Mielcarek was SHU's starting pitcher, giving up seven runs on nine hits in four frames. Justin McPherson pitched one inning of scoreless relief.
The Saints will return to action on Monday with a 6 p.m. non-conference game at cross-town Adrian.
