Muller Helps Lift Saints Past Bulldogs

Adrian, Mich.- The Siena Heights baseball team beat cross-town rival Adrian College 8-7 at the SHU Baseball Field Wednesday afternoon.

The Saints went up early with a five run second inning.  After Adrian scored a single run in the fourth inning the Saints responded with three more of their own, giving them an 8-1 lead.

Adrian battled back using a two run homer to power their four run fifth inning.  Then the Bulldogs closed the gap to just one run with two more runs in the seventh inning.

Travis Mielcarek pitched the final 2.2 innings to close the door on the Bulldog comeback. Mielcarek allowed only one hit and one walk to pick up the save.  Jordan Basinger was the starting pitcher for the Saints but needed one more out to qualify for the win.  As it is, Justin McPherson picks up the victory in relief.

Dan Muller had the hot bat at the plate for the Saints.  Muller went 4-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and three runs batted in.  Eric Henderson also drove in three runs for the Saints.

Mike Lollo and Austin Hauck both went 2-4 at the plate as the Saints pounded out 13 hits as a team.

Siena Heights is now 13-11 and will travel to play Eastern Michigan tomorrow afternoon.
