Saints' Baseball Suffers Two 1-0 Losses at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions to Indiana Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday.

In the nine-inning opener, the Warriors (18-14, 6-4) scored the game's only run on a first-inning RBI single by Ignatius Mackenzie.

 (Allen Park, Mich./Cabrini), who batted 2-for-4, and Brett Howard (Sylvania, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales) had doubles for Siena Heights. 

Corey Alexander (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) was the losing pitcher, allowing one run on six hits in eight innings of work. He finished with seven strikeouts, two walks and one hit batsman.

Indiana Tech pitcher Brandon Alger threw a five-hitter, compiling 11 strikeouts and two walks. Jeff King went 2-for-2 at the plate.

In the seven-inning nightcap, Indiana Tech scored its run on a squeeze bunt by Collin DeDecker in the third. Winning pitcher Tyler Snoke tossed a four-hitter and struck out six batters.

Also for the Warriors, Craig Herrmann went 2-for-2 and Jake Owens doubled.

Howard had a double in support of losing pitcher Brett Kuebler (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic). Kuebler gave up seven hits, struck out six batters and walked two. Indiana Tech's run was unearned.

The Saints (15-14, 4-6) and Warriors will meet again on Sunday for another 1 p.m. WHAC doubleheader.
