Siena Heights Baseball Swept in Twinbill by Berea

BEREA, Ky. -- The Siena Heights baseball team was on the losing end of a pair of pitchers' duels on Sunday, falling to Berea (Ky.), 3-0 and 2-1, in non-conference play.

In the 3-0 opener, Brett Kuebler (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) worked six innings without allowing an earned run. He allowed two hits and struck out three batters, but suffered the loss.

Cory Lehman (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic) led the SHU offense with a 3-for-4 game. Dan Abbott (Plymouth, Mich./Lutheran Westland), Corey Caldwell (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln Consolidated) and Joe Williams (Westland, Mich./Livonia Churchill) also had hits.

Brett Howard accounted for the Saints' lone run in the 2-1 contest, connecting for a solo homer.

Lehman, Robbie Schwartz (Adrian, Mich./Adrian), Alec Duncan (La Salle, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic) and Kyle Benschoter (Hudson, Mich./Hudson) also had hits.

Matt King (Rockville, Ind./Rockville) pitched the loss. He lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He also finished with eight strikeouts and three walks.

The Saints (3-2) will be in action next when they host Hillsdale on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
